my husband & i watched the ted kennedy documentary on cnn this weekend.

while watching we realized my husband has kennedy hair.

he let me part his hair to the side & style it like a kennedy.

life is simple, but so very good.

i love using half-empty bags of chips in my cookies

& getting them out of my baking cabinet.

i also wanted to try a recipe from this cookbook..

it uses honey instead of sugar.

the cookies turned out light & fluffy!

day 15, back to baking.

i use to be a chocolate only dessert person.

trying to eat healthier has changed my view on dessert.

fruits have become a staple in my diet & in my desserts!

my husband's mother is in hawaii at her condo,

and i know he would love to be there too.

he's home with me.. & we have no time to head to hawaii anytime soon.

i made these hawaiian mango cookies so he can imagine he is in hawaii. :)

one day, hopefully sooner than later..

we'll be there to eat real mangoes in hawaii.

ps - is the plural of mango mangoes or mangos?

real courage, day 14.

last friday i caught up with her story.

sometimes we need a good dose of real courage to encourage us.

you should catch up with her too.

i'm trying to find positives in every aspect of my life.
a positive.. catching up on new music.
this may not be 'new' but i love it.

i missed day 10.

first day in 10 days with no post.
i have a good excuse.
i spent the entire day catching up with friends with college
& the night celebrating a good friends birthday.
friends make life so much easier.

yesterday our little pup celebrated his ninth month!

he's growing so quickly!

we take for granted his unconditional love

& sometimes it's nice to just give him a long belly rub to thank him for being our number one fan.

day nine, appreciate the under appreciated.

i roasted my first chicken last night.

wasn't terrible, but needs more work.

i ended up making avocado & chicken wraps.

tortillas + shredded roasted chicken + chopped white onion + avocado slices

i was pleased, but husband wasn't a fan.

will try again soon.

any tips for roasting chicken or recipes to use it with?!

i didn't realize the downside of my plan until i was already in borders.
my biggest fear became that someone would see me, and assume the worst.
i refused to even ask the sales person what section to look in.
self-help? nope.
referene? uh-uh.
now if i were a parent, where would i spend my time at borders?
ah-ha! the mother load of parenting books.. next to the children's section.
no i'm not pregnant.
no i have no secret love child.
but i needed parenting books for work.
so if you saw me today, creeping around borders.
i promise, no bun in the oven.

jersey shore / day five.

after spending three days on the beach, monday came too soon.
something about spending time down the shore makes summer perfect.
& once again i don't want summer to end or to head back to school.
any recommendations on back to school sales?
found notebooks with 100% recycled paper from walmart!
roasted from the sun + returning to work = an interesting monday.
happy sunshine.. i mean happy monday :(

but now i can leave my digital camera at home on most occasions..
& my purse will be a few pounds lighter :)

day four.

tomorrow i head back to school.

my last year of my master's program.

back to the monday night drive to & from philly.

this year's goal is to not question my career choice & just go with it.

to believe in myself & what i'm doing.

maybe i'll try no to skip any classes too, maybe..

this summer went way to fast.

but at least i can justify back to school shopping!

my mom always made zucchini bread when i was a kid.
fresh zucchini from her garden.
it was the only way she'd get me to eat zucchini.
even as i made the bread, the fresh grated zucchini smelled terrible.
but the bread.. incredible.

& i wrapped up two loaves for two women who have been extra special to my husband & i! easy & yummy recipe for zucchini bread

**by the way. mejor amiga texted me the answer.. she may have cheated because she knows me so well, but she wins. wizard of oz!

celebrating. not just today, but eveyday.

i am blessed.

this past year has been amazing.

this birthday celebration was the perfect finale.

thanks to wendy from wendy's affairs of the heart& kamila harris (& kat & the phils), my husband & i trashed the dress at citizen's bank park.

then we hit up two of our philly favorites mcfaddens & chickie's!

& ended the night @ lincoln financial field watching our eagles.

somewhere in between all the different stops there were a million laughs.. so many amazing people who showed us around the park (let me sit in chase utley's chair), workers who stopped cleaning so some silly girl in a dress could take pictures, laughed as i change out of my wedding dress in a retail store, honked as we rolled around south philly in a vintage caddy, waitresses who told me my feather hair piece was cute (they probably lied, but it was nice) and reminded me of how lucky i am.

a new year.

today is my 24th birthday.
to begin a new year, a new semester in my life.. a new blog.
three wishes:
to open my heart more. with my new husband, with the rest of my family & with peope in general. time to bring down my personal walls.

to increase my courage.
to stand up for myself, for my family & to myself. to believe in myself, my career & my life choices.

to use my brain.

to succeed in school & work, to help others, to create, to share & in everyday life.

& a special prize to the first comment with my favorite movie/the basis for the new blog.

everyday i will post about my progress on my three wishes..
slowly i am.. following my heart, but taking my brain with me.
